[Plugin: Frontpage-Slideshow] About plugin [Frontpge Slideshow]

I’m not the developer, but I’m looking at the source code, and I’m not quite sure why the developer went about doing it the way he did, which looks like he set it to automatically put the slideshow in a certain spot, and I’m guessing that the spot he chose isn’t available on all themes. Not really a bright move, if you ask me.

I can’t promise that I’ll ever actually finish it, but I do plan on changing the plugin so that it can use a shorttag, since I need this plugin on a site that I’m working on. This means that I’ll have to learn how to work with WP’s code, but there’s no better time to learn than a time in need.

The way the plugin is working by now is : to put the slide-show on top of the front page, just before the content.

This plugin was developed first in order to be used with a WP used as a classical CMS : if you want it to work fine by now, you need to use a page as the front page.
You don’t have anything to activate or other short tag to add.

@oneupdave : don’t spend your time doing this as the next release will give you the choice for the inclusion : the actual way, with a short-tag anywhere into some post content + some side effect corrections
I just need time to finalize this release as I got some strong and remunerated work to do beside…
If you want to be noticed automatically when this release is available, just install it in WP but don’t activate it.

Sorry again to not have answered before today, but I just had no time the last 3 weeks…

Haha, I know what you mean. So much could be done with a few extra hours.

Anyway, I’m having some strange issues with the current revision. First off, it does not seem to save any of the options that I change, no matter how many times I change them. Secondly, it appears that the slideshow appears on my Contact page (in place of where a ReCaptcha Form by another plugin should appear), and on some blog posts. I haven’t found the similarity between the posts that show it, yet.

@oneupdave : could you please open a new thread for those problems and tell me wich version of WP you are using and the name and version of plugins you are using wich FrontpageSlideshow is messing up? this will help me to have a clear view on current problems with the plugin.
Try to completely uninstall/reinstall FrontpageSlideshow, then activate it and choose the “shortcode way” to display, then change the shortcode to something more personal and let me know.

yep, ure right, but I really fix all current bugs before to add more costomizing options. Good ideas.
