• Let me be clear, the developers of this plugin did a great job… it is easy to use and looks great. If you consider the cost (approximately zero) it’s amazing they they give as much support as they do through their forums.

They should however manage the expectations of people using it by being up front about this problem: it will not work if you have one or many other popular plug-ins installed (Lightbox for example) There is no work around to this. If you happened to have bought a theme from studiopress that has a hardcoded reference to this plugin you have more reason to be angry at studiopress.

It is not impossible for multiple plug-ins to share libraries, so I hope that this is eventually cured.

  • Thank you for the heads-up. Curious, have you brought this to the attention of StudioPress and if you did, what was the response?

StudioPress does hard-code the plugin into many of their themes, and they’ve found most users benefit from the FCG. Un-installing the plugin is an extremely easy process, but yes, the plugin does conflict with other plugins like lightbox. However, there are alternatives. Shadowbox is a great plugin that performs just as well as lightbox, without the FCG conflict.

We’ve tried very hard to correct the conflict with shared libraries, and have succeeded in many cases, but because of the references in MooTools vs. jQuery, some conflicts won’t ever be resolved. We’ll continue to try and find solutions, and in the mean time please feel free to visit our support forum: http://www.featuredcontentgallery.com/forum

So any GOOD NEWS about this plugin?
