I’m totally confused about the app and how it relates to the plugin. I have an app I made so I could get the plugin to work on a test site, but it’s using my fb account.

Do I need to make an app for each client site I set the plugin up for? or do they all use the same one? can it be either way? advantages? disadvantages?

Also, what is the point and purpose of “publishing” the app for public use? How could anyone else use this app? What would they use it for?, and why wouldn’t they just make their own? Just what the heck is this thing? no shortage of info on how to make one but not much on the actual nature of the beast. there’s too many holes in my understanding of how this works. Anyone got any patch?

    Yes.

There isn’t a point, and you don’t have to do that. You do have to “submit” the “action” so that the resulting published posts can be made public, but you don’t have to do the “Submit App Detail Page” to get the app listed in the App Center, because there’s no point there.

If you make your questions more specific, I could probably give more specific answers, but the long and the short of it is that there’s just not a whole heck of a lot of setup that you actually have to do. Create the App, get the URLs correct, create the publish action and submit it (only if you’re using the publish functionality), and that’s about it, really.

You answered all my specific questions. I have no more, so thanks.
I’ve never encountered a plgin like this, with a sea of settings on another website. It’s weird. Alsmost like it’s not ready for users who have never heard of a facebook app. (me!) There’s no way to know none of those settings apply. In fact, when I google for info about the facebook plugin I get endless articles about how to pupblish my app and add do all kinds of stuff…that you say isn’t needed in the plugin. And here Ihought the app was a part of the settings in the facebook plugin.
And I’ve been posting this question for 3 weeks on various forums, this is the first answer.

I’m going to try it on a client site, but I’ve seen some other fb plugins that say thet can do social publishing, and there’s no mention of the app in their docs. I like that idea.

    thanks again
