[Plugin: External Videos] No thumbnails

Using the latest version of WordPress and when I add new videos no thumbnails are shown (src is empty).
the video post works ok,but the page with the [external videos] shortcode on just shows a bunch of empty thumbnails and when I click on it, I get some messed up page instead of the video post.
