Plugin export/import options settings

I have developed a few plugins for wordpress. Now that I know they are stable, I would like to include a feature for the user to export the options settings they set for my plugin, and import them into another sites database.

Could someone please point me in the right direction of where I could read about doing this?

I’m guessing I could create some database functions to export the current database settings (for my plugin only) into a text file.. and then have the ability to import that text file into a separate wordpress installation also using my plugin.

Are there any websites out there which could “guide” me in the proper direction?
