Support » Plugin: amr ical events lists » [Plugin: Events with ical files, by list or calendar (aka amr-ical-events-list)] No events message

  • If there are no events, is there an easy way of printing a message informing the viewers as opposed to a blank, empty page. Example, “Sorry, there are no upcoming events.” I’m using the shortcode method of including my calendar from an ics file stored on my server if that makes a difference.

    Hi polyfade,

there is/was provision for a “no events in criteria” message. I suspect that in adding the calendar box view, that may have been removed. I am on the road at the moment and severely jetlagged so brain not functioning too well right now, so will have to look at it later.

It should be easy to add it back in as optional (like the show_views parameter), so check back here in a day or so.

    Hi polyfade,
if you are in a hurry,
    in ical-events-list-main.php
    llines 2318 to 2322
    and line 2326
    have been commented out.

If you uncomment them, then if there is a “no events” message set in the settings, it will display that instead of the list or calendar box.

Alternatively, adjust your parameters for # of events and #days relative to the number of events over a time period that you will have so that you always have events to show.

I have to think about the best way to handle this option without making things complicated to allow those who want an empty calendar box to show rather than a message (or maybe as well as a message!)

anmari, many thanks for an amazing product and speedy response.

unfortunately, i don’t see anything commented out on those lines.
    for example, line 2318 states:
    echo '<h2>'.sprintf(__('Invalid Ical URL passed in query string %s','amr_ical_list_lang'), $spec).'</h2>';

i see in the general settings of the plugin you’ve included the option–
    Message if no events found:
No events found within start and end date

but, it doesn’t print that, at least it doesn’t show in list view.
