Settings with Google Apps email account (5 posts)

    This looks like a great plug in, and will definitely buy the full version if I can get the email wortking correctly.

    I have a google apps email address - info at 36exp.co.uk

    And have set the email settings for the plug in as described here:

    But, when I try to book a test event, I just get a spinning wheel, no confirmation.

    Here is a link to the test event:

    When I use the php email setting everyting works, but I want the from email to be my email address so need to change it to SMTP.

    Please help!

    nowadays with apps it's just like a gmail account.

    try using the gmail settings given in the tip, and use your full email as your username.

    OK, seems to be that it is an issue with my host (bluehost) blocking smtp connections.

    Solution seems to be something like this:

    Just to follow up, and for anyone else using Bluehost, and trying to configure the events confirmation to send from their own email address using SMTP:

    Bluhost won't accept SMTP connections from other applications, so the workaround is:

    1 - set up an email account in your bluehost control panel with the same address as your email account that you want to use
    2 - in the events plug in in email settings configure the SMTP host to be box***.bluehost.com (replace *** with your own box number given by lue host), use port 465, and add your email address and password

    Works like a dream!
