Events Manager
[resolved] After update to latest version can't add events (22 posts)

    Hi,
    I have upgraded to the new version a few days ago.
    Now, when I go to the events section in the control panel I cannot find the "events", "add event" and "locations" buttons.
    In the events page users can see the events correctly.

    Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

    Thanks

    Tom

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    This issue keeps happening ... it breaks from one update to another; this is the line:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function groups_get_user_groups()

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply. I tried deactivating the plugins, but nothing changed.

    Is there a way to fix the "Fatal error: Call to undefined function groups_get_user_groups()", or should I just restore to a previous version?

    Thanks

    Im logged in as admin.

    Saludos...

    There's a new thread about the bp_is_active issue.

    See http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-events-manager-upgrade-52-fatal-error-bp_is_active where I've posted a quick fix.

    Hi Marcus,
    Unfortunately also after upgrading to 5.2.1 I still encounter the same problem.
    To clarify, I'm using the WordPress 3.4.1 Hebrew version.

    I really don't want to go back to the previous working version.

    Thanks

    Tom

    The only two submenues I have under the events tab in the admin panel are: settings and help

    Try the dev version (stable update coming out in a few hours).

    I think this went off-topic though, because if you're just missing menu items, I'd check your user capabilities in Events > Settings > General to make sure you can actually have permissions to edit events/locations etc.

    IF that still doesn't help, check other plugins in case they also mess with user capabilities, maybe they're preventing EM from adding custom capabilities or overwriting them.

    Hi Marcus,
    I have updated to version 5.2.2, and sorry to say that it is still happening.

    Under Events > Settings > General these are the options I have.
    All are chekced except under contributor and subscriber:

    administrator
    delete_event_categories ?
    edit_event_categories ?
    manage_others_bookings ?
    manage_bookings ?
    upload_event_images ?
    editor
    delete_event_categories ?
    edit_event_categories ?
    manage_others_bookings ?
    manage_bookings ?
    upload_event_images ?
    author
    delete_event_categories ?
    edit_event_categories ?
    manage_others_bookings ?
    manage_bookings ?
    upload_event_images ?
    contributor
    delete_event_categories ?
    edit_event_categories ?
    manage_others_bookings ?
    manage_bookings ?
    upload_event_images ?
    subscriber
    delete_event_categories ?
    edit_event_categories ?
    manage_others_bookings ?
    manage_bookings ?
    upload_event_images

    I have checked my other plugins, and the settings there seems to be correct.
    Thanks,

    Tom

    I'd advise trying to reset your EM settings to see if that helps force the right capabilities again (Settings > Admin Tools). I'm pretty certain it's another plugin and a permission related error.

    Hi Marcus,
    I found the error, but probably need your help to solve it.
    After resetting the EM plugin, everything comes back to normal. But, when I change the HTML formatting of a single event to this code snippet all the menues dissapear:

    [ Moderator Note: Please post code or markup snippets between backticks or use the code button. As it stands, your code may now have been permanently damaged/corrupted by the forum's parser. ]

    <div style="float:right; margin:0px 0px 15px 15px;">#_MAP</div>
    <p>
    	<strong>תאריך/שעה</strong>
    	תאריך - #_EVENTDATES<i>#_EVENTTIMES</i>
    </p>
    {has_location}
    <p>
    	<strong>מיקום</strong>
    	#_LOCATIONLINK
    </p>
    {/has_location}
    <p>
    	<strong>קטגוריה</strong>
    	#_CATEGORIES
    </p>
    <br style="clear:both" />
    #_EVENTNOTES
    {has_bookings}
    <h3>מקומות</h3>
    #_BOOKINGFORM
    {/has_bookings}

    Hope you can solve this issue.

    thanks

    Tom

    Also, I'm getting this warning:
    Warning: Missing argument 3 for em_options_input_text(), called in /home/XXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/admin/em-options.php on line 1008 and defined in /home/XXX/public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-manager/em-functions.php on line 444

    As for the previous post, when I change any text in the location description from English to Hebrew, the main menues of events and edit events dissapear.

    the warning will be fixed, but this warning won't adversely affect the plugin fyi

    r.e. the original issue, I have a feeling the hebrew is breaking it, have you tried modifying the format bit by bit to see what actually triggers this to break?

    in the meantime, one suggestion would be to use entity references if it is in fact the hebrew breaking the formatting.

    Yes, it is the Hebrew :-)
    How can I use entity references to overcome this?

    Thanks

    You'd need to look up the equivalent references to your hebrew characters.

    e.e. http://www.google.es/search?sugexp=chrome,mod=18&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=hebrew+entity+reference

    I had the same problem - went crazy with this - but managed to get it working. Posting so that it might help others with similar issues.

    1. Save you formating (settings) - in case you have done custom formatting.
    2. Reset the events manager.
    (if it still doesnt work)
    3. Change your theme to twenty ten
    4. Reset again and see if the menu items are working. If they arent, try deactivating and reactivating.
    5. Once it works - change your theme back.

    Might save someone the hours I spent in deleting, uninstalling and loosing all my data.
