• I’m loving this plugin compared to all the others I’ve tried, the only thing I’m having difficulty with is that I have events that span multiple days but the event registers as finished before the event has reached it’s end time. I know that it is probably recommended to do recurrences rather than one long event spanning multiple days but I prefer the look on the calendar when it stretches across multiple days and it also leaves the option for the workaround if something only occurs on week days that I can span it across the week days and then have the even reoccur weekly. Is it possible to just have the even not register as finished until the end time has passed rather than the start time? sorry for being long winded, I love the plugin and plan on rating it well even if I cant fix this!

  • Hi Nevets321,
Thanks, I’m glad it’s been helpful!

Currently (up to 1.1.1) events are considered ‘past’ as soon as they started. However 1.2 (which will be released next week) introduces an option to decide when an event is considered ‘past’ (i.e. when the event starts, or when it finishes). That should solve your problem.

On a side note – you don’t have to make the event week-long to repeat an event weekly on week days. The weekly re-occurrence allows you to select which days of the week the event is to reoccur on. So you could set the event to last a day a then repeat it weekly on Mondays,Tuesdays, etc. (But it’s perfectly reasonable to set it instead as a week-long event, it’s really down to preference and context)

Thanks for the response. I guess I hadn’t dug into it enough to see the options under weekly reoccur. Glad to hear of the update for 1.2, that will likely help my other issue which is that it would be nice to have an option when listing out future events as to whether you want to list each occurrence separately or just the first time it occurs. I have some events listed like fairs or exhibits that will go on for a couple months at a time but in a list view I dont want it listed once for each day just one time total and have it say from Jan through March or whatever. I look forward to the update.

Yes there will be an option to ‘group’ occurrences. Though it will display the first occurrence that matches the query (so if you include past events, it’ll be the first occurrence, otherwise it’ll be the next occurrence). In any case – for your needs, you’ll what to use the functions eo_get_schedule_start and eo_get_schedule_end to display something like ‘this event runs from Jan through March’ – and that will be the same across all occurrences.

Alternatively you can run it as a single event running from Jan to March :D. As I said, it’s down to preference and context.
