    This plugin does not provide legal compliance. To do that it most prevent cookies being set prior to consent. All it does it put up an ugly banner.

    That depends on where you are. A few of the EU members, Finland for example, require only that notice be given and that a user's browser settings are sufficient for controlling cookies.

    That simplicity makes it ideal for some sites. In those cases, even an easily visible sidebar widget with some text and possibly a link to a privacy page would be enough.
