Nothing, eShop uses posts and pages and you can add a product to either. For the more advanced it is possible to utilise custom post types.

Have you published any Posts yet?. Or do you perhaps need to review creating a static front page?
Its not just the front page. Its the store page as well.
I have published one post as a product for testing, it only shows if you click on the products tab on the side bar.

the side product listing just vanished out of nowhere as well. When I list a product in a post it doesn’t show in my products section of the estore either.

ahh, having looked at that page I realize that you are using a theme from Elegant themes. We specifically will not support any site using a theme of theirs, sorry.
try changing to twenty ten or eleven and see if things work correctly there.
(oh and try ticking the stock available checkbox)
