Deny checkout until a quantity is reached (4 posts)

I'm setting up eShop on a client's site. He sells his products, mix-or-match, in lots of 6 or 12. I'm planning on using JavaScript to hide the checkout button unless the total qty. is a multiple of six; I'll display a message that the visitor has to buy in lots of six, then switch to checkout when that condition is met.

So my question is: does this sound like a reasonable way to get this done? Second question: if someone's done this already, would you like to share? I'll send cookies.

Finally, if I do end up writing this, I'll be happy to share here if anyone is interested.

Sounds like a great future enhancement, doesn't it?

why not just sell in multiples of 6 only? (quantity 1 = 1 x 6)

Wish I could do that. But since he's allowing the customer to choose from among all 16 products to fill up the 6 or 12 spots in the shipping box, I can't simply do that.
