[Plugin: Email Before Download] Inline link & email not working in contact form

I am using a combination of Contact Form 7, Email Before Download and Download Monitor to allow users to download a PDF file from the home page via an inline link. When a user presses the download button, a message saying the “message was sent successfully” appears, but the inline link doesn’t. I tried doing it via e-mail by changing the settings in Email Before Download, and I get the same problem, the email doesn’t get sent, even though in both cases I receive the e-mail myself informing me that somebody used the contact form.

Does anybody know by any chance what could be causing this problem? I have looked for information on this forum and on the Internet, and none of the solutions found have helped me so far. For instance, I have <?php wp_footer(); ?> in the footer.php file, and the equivalent header code in the header.php file, so I’m not sure if it’s a problem with AJAX or not.
