Support » Plugins » PlugIn Editor not shown on Dashboard Admin area

  • My website is fully hosted by DreamHost.com and using the theme Mystic. I have read everything I can and looked everywhere but cannot find out why PlugIn editor does not show in my Dashboard Admin area. Am trying to add the plugin WPZon for Amazon affiliate links.

    Website url is http://www.ExpatAdventureBlog.com

  • Yes, that is the plugin but my real problem seems to be that there is no Plugin Editor on my Dashboard in the Admin area.

Do you find the plugin listed in your dashboard in the list of installed plugins? If so click at the Edit link. The editor will open.

Thank you so much for responding. Maybe I’m not saying this correctly but there is no list of installed plugins and there is no plugin editor that I can find anywhere on my dashboard. I have opened everything.

When I look at some of the training videos I can actually see “Plugins” on the dashboard under the “Appearance” section. But the word “Plugins” does not show up on my dashboard. The site is fully hosted by DreamHost so having “Plugins” shouldn’t be a problem.
    Thank you,

Do you login as an administrator or under some other capability?

    I login as the administrator.

Is it possible that the theme is the problem? I am thinking of buying the Flexibility Theme product hoping that will take care of the problem of the plugin issue.

Thank you so much for your help!

Look at the above link. You can see plugins on the left hand side. Don’t you see anything like that?

OK, can you revert to a WordPress default theme and see if the screen changes?

I have activated the following themes and “plugins” does not show up after I have activated them:

    Kubrick
    twenty ten
    twenty eleven
    twenty twelve
    twenty thirteen

I even logged out and logged back in and “plugins” does not show up.

I am still at a loss. I really need to know why I don’t have “plugins” in my admin panel. Please Help!

Your site appears to be on WordPress.COM – you cannot use plugins there ever. You also cannot use themes from other places.

Did you move your site to DH? If so, looks like the nameservers are still set to WordPress.COM for this site:

    WPyogi,
Thank you so much for responding to my request. Yes, I did move my site to DH. And at the risk of seeming really stupid on this subject (which I am) how do I get the nameserver changed from WordPress to DH?

Again, thank you sooooo much for your help!

If the domain name was registered through WordPress.COM, then you’ll need to change the nameservers there – see:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/

If you have further questions about it, you should post on their forums.

Also, note that it can take up to 72 hours for nameserver changes to fully propagate – though it’s usually less. But still, it won’t be instantaneous.
