Hmm, is anyone else having an issue with the items in the Calendar being unable to be dragged?

Was a feature I was looking forward to. I’ve got a few scheduled posts so those are yet to be published. I’m unable to drag these – only see details.

Certainly scheduled posts are still in the future and should be draggable but I notice on the editflow.com site that the calendar screenshot shows the ‘scheduled’ post as being greyed out whilst other ones are blue (and presumably draggable).

Can I get some clarification please?

Currently, you can only drag “unpublished” content… scheduled is technically published content. Drag and drop for scheduled, private, and published content is something we’re certainly considering 🙂

    Hope this helps,

    Nah, no way.

Published is live viewable content. Scheduled is future (to be published content).

The user case for this is mapping out a site’s content. Contributors or just me schedule content to go out, according to some criteria. The calendar makes it easy to see at a glance when this is happening. If there’s a ‘hole’ in the schedule, then scheduled content should be able to be dragged to pad out these holes and the calendar should then change the dates of the schedule to align with the date.

You ain’t folling me with scheduled content being technically-published 🙂

Appreciate your efforts, Daniel. Just voicing my opinion.

Hey guys, had to chime in on this. We just installed Edit Flow and were surprised to see that in Calendar view we can’t move posts around that are scheduled.

Let’s take a step back for a moment, and consider this from the perspective of a site that has content scheduled out for say 30 days as we do.

You would look at the Calendar view, and looking at all the scheduled posts, you realize that certain posts make more sense to be re-arranged, i.e. too many posts on the same topic in the same week. or perhaps too many from one author in the same week, so you want to even them out – rearrange the publish date of a few posts.

So you want to drag and move them.

However from this same perspective of a site that publishes content, I really don’t how dragging content that is not scheduled would be useful? 🙂

the plugin “Editorial Calendar” handles this nicely – although since we’re now using Edit Flow

Take a look if you’re not familiar with it, the way they implement easy calendar dragging of scheduled posts is exactly in line with how a content publishing site works. 🙂

Please let me know if you’d like me to elaborate a bit on the inner workings of this process flow, happy to help.

    Thanks guys!

Just to follow up on this… the request is to be able to drag scheduled content, but not published content? What would happen if you dragged a scheduled post onto an earlier date than today? Should it make it published?

    Hey Daniel.

Sure, that makes sense to me…

    Thanks!
    Dan
