Can't set status without publish_posts capability (3 posts)

Firstly, well done on this update, the plugin is brilliant. We had a play with the plugin a few months back but have been holding off using Edit Flow until this update as we were waiting for a few of the new features.

We do have one problem though; our users cannot set the status of a post (we have set up 5 custom statuses) unless they also have the publish_posts capability. The publish box just displays the usual 'Save Draft' and 'Submit for Review' buttons.

In our workflow, content can only be published by a senior editor, so we have removed the publish_posts capability from our contributors using the Members plugin.

I've tried disabling other plugins and it hasn't worked. I looked at the JavaScript on the post page where it configures EF, and the statuses are included there.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Glad to hear you're liking EF!

Unfortunately, there is nothing in the plugin at this time that would allow you to use a different capability for changing the custom status of a post, other than publish_posts.

We'll definitely keep it in mind for a future release.

To clarify, this is unfortunately a limitation of WordPress core, not Edit Flow. Specifically, if you remove "publish_posts" for a user, they're presented with a different post submit box.

I have two possible fixes outlined and would love to hear what you think of them on that thread.
