  • Hi,

In Ecwid, there is no built-in wishlists yet. However, the functionality you described can be achieved with the following setup:
    1) Change the ‘Add to bag’ buttons images in your store so they will say ‘Add to wishlist’. Details:
    http://kb.ecwid.com/w/page/21499933/How%20to%20change%20your%20%22Add%20to%20Bag%22%20button

    2) Disable all store’s payment options except for the ‘Phone order’. Rename it to “Send wishlist”, for example. You can rename it by clicking its name in your Ecwid control panel.

    3) Make sure that all your products do not have weight assigned. In this case Ecwid will omit the “Shipping details” checkout step.

    4) At “checkout”, ask customers to fill in the recipient’s email address. It can be done with the help of the Order comments section. More details: http://www.ecwid.com/blog/ecwid-news/ecwid-v10-2-has-been-released.html

    5) Modify your mail notification or disable them as described in this article:
    http://kb.ecwid.com/w/page/25104182/Mail%20Notifications

    6) If the placed wishlist should be automatically sent to the recipient, you can create a custom script that will handle placed orders(wishlists) via Ecwid Order API and send necessary e-mails.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    That’s cool thank you!

Love the neatness of the cart and its ajax effects.

Have no idea what to do to set out auto send wishlist.

Do you mean the point #6 from my post?

I haven’t done any of the steps yet but they look straight forward

I think they want the user to be able to add to a wishlist
But then email the full wishlist to the website owner,

It’s for an online catalog so it requires that the user can add their
shipping address etc, then the site owner can get back to them about wishlist, pricing etc.

I don’t know if they want this shopping cart yet,
just testing it and i like it but it’s not up to me.

    Thanks

Well, it is even easier if there is no need to send a wishlist to some other recipient apart from the store owner and the customer. Ecwid by default sends email notifications about placed orders (in your case, wishlists) to the store admin and to a customer. Moreover, the store admin will be able to see the placed order in their control panel. With these requirements, no extra coding needed – Ecwid already supports everything you asked for.

Ok so i would need to change just the button img for shopping cart?
    Anything else?

Thanks again im going to put this cart to the site owner.

Perhaps, you will also need to change other buttons and text labels (Shopping cart -> Wishlist, Place order -> Send wishlist etc.) . That can be done by means of custom translations as described in this article: http://goo.gl/gT7eO .

You’re welcome. If you have any further questions, you will most likely find them in our help center: http://help.ecwid.com/ . Please also feel free to post on our forums: http://www.ecwid.com/forums/

Justin i didn’t go ahead with that option as it was adding costs
to the project they didn’t want to pay right yet, but i think it is pretty easy to customize with those instructions.
