I figured that I would ignore the other reviews that said it was too hard to use, since I am a professional PHP developer, and would be able to figure it out. But, no, no such luck.

The free version looked okay, and I paid the $29.99 for the paid version because the videos looked pretty good. But, it turns out if you actually try to use the software, it has multiple bugs in it.

This is a beta-quality product, and not ready for developer use yet.

I emailed support with questions about use, and logs of PHP errors that exist in the code, and didn’t get a response.

I downloaded http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/csv-importer/ and after I modified my CSV file to match, everything imported perfectly. Custom post types, custom fields, everything.

The CSV-importer is vastly superior to the free and paid “easy-csv-importer-2”.

Note to the author – if you want to write a plugin, and say you offer a consultancy service as part of paying for the advanced version, you need to actually respond to questions.

    There is support.

Importing data too WordPress is a full time job for me it is all I do. I’m currently developing WordPress CSV Importer, ECI customers will get that free. I consider that part of the service even if it has taking a while to make a decision on exactly how to create an advanced plugin for none developers.

I feel I figured it out though and I’m not the beginner I was.

ECI will eventually be replaced with something far easier and have a dedicated website. A lot to come. Contact me for these plugins jondaley, closer to the end of 2012.

So by “support” you mean no email to my requests after I sent you money, and then three months later you reply to say “yes there is support”?

I would call a three month’s response time incredibly bad for a free plugin, and completely unacceptable for someone who says he supports his plugin full-time, and charges for it.

Fortunately, everyone else can see the time stamps on these emails, and see that you didn’t respond for a long time and know that it isn’t worth paying you any money.

Oh – I forgot to reply to your last sentence. I definitely will not be contacting you later for your new plugins. I already wasted $30 on your first plugin that was junk.

There is no way I’ve been getting emails from anyone for such a long period of time and not replying. This is my full time job. I log into my emails when I start working and for 12 hours I occasionally check them again.

I am here writing now and I’m more than happy to discuss any of my plugins. I have a lot of plugins planned over then next few years, your still welcome to contact me in future for a copy.

    Thanks for your feedback.

I didn’t say I was pestering you since then. I bought your plugin, saw how it had a bunch of bugs in it, emailed you, didn’t get a response, worked on editing your plugin to make it work, gave up, and then re-searched for a CSV importer, and found

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easy-csv-importer-2/

And off I went, happy as a clam, though $30 poorer. I figured since you didn’t respond to support questions, you definitely wouldn’t respond to refund questions, and figured it wasn’t worth my time to reverse the charges, etc.

Ah sorry ok. Well I’ve missed an email or two.

Are you still doing any sort of data importing with WordPress?

I’ll admit I’m short of money but I’m happy to refund you when I can which will be when the new plugin is selling. It’s only beta right now.

I’d think that “missing an email or two” from your paying customers would be a pretty bad thing. I know I couldn’t get away with that with my customers at least.

I only needed an importing plugin for a one-time import from an excel spreadsheet.

You didn’t quote me properly and my actual comment was passive. I don’t know what the situation was 3 months ago.

I’m here to be productive and try to get something out of it in the end. My jobs done thanks again.
