[Plugin: Dynamic Widgets] Anonymous users and PHP version

  • Hi Qurl,
and first of all many thanks for this useful plugin.
    Now the problem.
I just updated WP to 3.3.1 and DW to 1.5 in a sandbox that is an exact copy of a production site.
All works correctly, so made the same upgrade to the main site and here appears a weird behavior.

With Dynamic Widget I manage different widgets with different conditions (languages, pages, categories and so on) and a couple that have to be shown only to anonymous users, these are login widgets and before upgrade all was working fine.

So, set to don’t show to anybody but anonymous and in sandbox all works correctly, instead in production site the widgets are shown always, to connected and anonymous users.

I tried many times with different combinations of settings, result is the same.
The only difference between sandbox and main installation is that in sandbox run PHP 5.3.+ and in main one, the PHP 5.2.+.

So I ask, is it possible that for this settings, the different PHP version changes behavior? and if yes, as by now I cannot change PHP version, there is a workaround?
DW seems works well for other conditions that I use, only anonymous shows this fault.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello MacItaly,

I’ve actually received more complaints about it, but unable to reproduce. It’s hard to believe the PHP version has something to do with this as I’m using the WP function is_user_logged_in() in the background for this.

I’m going to have a look for a workaround as it looks like this is not reliable (anymore). Are you willing to do some tests?

    Hi Qurl,
    and thanks for support.
Yes, I want to solve this so I’m happy to help you if I can, only let me know how.
    TIA

    Hi MacItaly,

I think I’ve found a workaround. Please send me a message via my contactform. In reply I’ll send you a modified file which you have to put into the dynamic-widgets directory and see if it helps.
