    Hi there,

I’ve been using Duplicator for a while now, without any problem. I’m using International Character Sets – so I’m following the FAQ like this :

When creating a package uncheck the checkbox ‘Enable database encoding’ from the options dialog

When running the installer make sure the checkbox for ‘Enable MySQL character set’ is checked. It can be found by clicking the “Advanced Options” link on the installer.

The problem is when I Enable MySQL character set – the result website is kinda “crappy”… CSS is broken, and when I go in theme admin, I need to re-configure the whole theme! Seems like all my theme settings were lost…

I did this test on 2 different websites with 2 subdomains each, so both websites were running different themes (because at first – I thought my theme was incompatible)

When I decide to NOT Enable MySQL character set – the result website is OK, but the characters are all messed up 🙁

    What can I do?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hey IseeDeadPeople,

I have seen issue with some Unicode languages and themes. The issue right now is that the deserialization engine has issues with larger serialized string when the characters are converted. You might try to keep the ‘Enabled database encoding’ checkbox checked and see if that makes any difference.

I’m in the process of implementing another serializtion engine. If you could submit a ticket, I’ll work with you on your language. I need some data to run the tests against and yours may be good candidate….

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. I’d be happy to work with you with your testing, but… Can you tell me where I need to go to submit a ticket?

    Thanks 🙂
