Support » Plugin: WP Retina 2x » Plugin doesn’t work

  • This plugin doesn’t seem to work. Maybe it requires that you pay for the pro version, I don’t know. I uploaded a header image for a simple default WordPress theme, nothing special. It doesn’t render a retina version of the image. Not sure why. I had to edit the theme’s php file to manually enter the image and have it display correctly.

WP 5.5.1, Default WP theme (updated to latest version).

    Update with more detail:

I decided to post this review for a simple reason:

I SHOULD be able to install this plugin and use it to generate and render a retina image for my default “logo.” It just doesn’t work. I’ve tried using this plugin multiple times over the last year, or two, and it’s never worked. All I need it to do is to generate and render the image I upload as the “logo” in WordPress.

The image I uploaded is double the size in both pixel density and dimensions, and it (the file I uploaded) is named as a proper retina image. The supposed retina image is generated but doesn’t render on any web browsers, or phones, I’ve tried. (I’ve tried multiple.) WP automatically displays a 150x image size. So, it seems this plugin doesn’t work on site logos. I checked the uploads directory and it appears several different versions were generated, but a retina image does not display.

I’m using up-to-date WordPress and default WP theme.

I looked over the “debug issues” page and none of them cover this issue as far as I can see. Also the English grammar of the “debug issues” page is quite poor and I don’t really understand a lot of what’s being said there.

The only way to get my image to show up as a retina image is to bypass the use of this plugin and simply add the HTML code myself.

    Hi,

Before writing a review, you should maybe ask in the support? The plugin works for thousands and thousands of people and there are no bugs currently, and hasn’t been for a very long while.

Maybe it requires that you pay for the pro version, I don’t know.

    Of course not.

Have you looked a the debugging page? This one: https://meowapps.com/wp-retina-2x-debug-issues/.

Not sure why you started by posting a bad review, it’s not the best way to get help 🙁

I SHOULD be able to install this plugin and use it to generate and render a retina image for my default “logo.” In other words, I’m doing something that is EXTREMELY simple and basic. It should just work, but it just doesn’t work. I’ve tried using this plugin multiple times over the last year, or two, and it’s never worked. (And, yes, I always use the latest versions of WordPress with the updated default themes.) All I need it to do is to generate and render the image I upload as the “logo” in WordPress.
