Support » Plugin: Extended Post Status » Plugin does not work with Page Builders – Preview mode Does Not Work Either

  • I tested this plugin using 4 different page builders,
    WP Bakery (JS Composer)
    Beaver Builder
    Page Builder (Site Origin).

    Compatible Page Builders
What works with Extended Post Status Plugin:

    • WP Bakery
    • Page Builder

    NonCompatible Page Builders
What does not work with Extended Post Status Plugin:

    • Elementor
    • Beaver Builder

This single reason explains why the “Extended Post Status Plugin” works (to some extent) with 2 page builders and not with the other 2.

    Answer – “Preview Mode”.

WP Bakery and Page Builder Do Not require “Preview Mode” feature of WordPress to work with the plugin, because they work directly in the WordPress editor.

But… the user cannot preview their page building work at all, because the WordPress “preview mode” does not work with this plugin.

Elementor and Beaver Builder Do require the WordPress “Preview Mode” to work, because they open the document in Preview mode to give the user access to their drag and drop modules and widgets.

    Without Any Page Builder
The document is editable with the WordPress standard editors (Classic and Block), but again, the user cannot preview the work at all because the plugin does not work with the “Preview Mode”.

    404 page
That is what Preview mode gives when trying to preview any work from the editor or page builder. This is the same result if someone tried to view a post/page that is set to “Draft mode”, simply it is not accessible.
…it appears this is where the bug or hitch exists for this “Extended Post Status Plugin”. It appears the plugin causes the “Preview” button to place the user as a “non-logged in” viewer instead of a “logged in” viewer.

Which is likely the same result when Elementor and Beaver builder try to use Preview mode, it knocks them out of the “logged in status” user.

    Preview Mode
This works fine when using WordPress standard “Draft” mode. Any status created by the “Extended Post Status Plugin” will not work with Preview Mode.

What will fix all of this?
It appears that fixing the incompatibility with WordPress preview mode will fix everything here, since it appears that this “Extended Post Status Plugin” does not interfere with the page builders themselves.

    Temporary Work-a-round
Change the document (post/page) to the WordPress standard “Draft” status, then click the “Save Draft”.
Use any page builder, then when finished the work for the day, change the status again back to your custom named status made with this plugin, and “Save Draft”.

    Hi @lospeso

thank you very much for this detailed analysis. I have to test and adjust this in detail first to develop a solution here.

Since Beaver Builder is a premium-only plugin, I can’t easily recreate the problem with it. I will take care of the Elementor first, maybe there is a possibility to provide you with an internal version of the plugin with a fix for the Elementor, hoping that this solution will then work for the Beaver Builder as well?

    Thank you very much!

I used the free version of the Beaver Builder named “WordPress Page Builder – Beaver Builder“. It shows as “Beaver Builder Plugin (Lite Version)” when installed.

    Thanks and your welcome.

We are using the Classic Editor plugin (extremely popular, 5+ million active installs) and it can be included in the NonCompatible category.
