[Plugin: Disqus Comment System] Script inserted when not needed.

  • I’ve done this a few times before but never had an issue until doing it on an install with Disqus present.

I want a wp_query to display posts that use a certain custom field, these are then dropped into a jQuery cycle slideshow. The problem here is that Disqus is inserting its javascript after WordPress has looped through the posts, its not needed, but its creating an extra element within the container.

The jQuery cycle plugin picks up all child elements of the choosen container so I’m getting this javascript showing up on the page in raw form?

Any ideas on how to prevent this happening?

    Hi ch8rt,

As suggested in the “Comment counts not working, or code showing up in other plugins” section of our WordPress Troubleshooting doc, try enabling the Comment Counts checkbox under Advanced Options in the Disqus plugin. This will output the Disqus JavaScript in the footer and should fix this.

Let us know what you find,

Just ran into this problem too. Was wondering why a bunch of disqus script was showing up in a custom loop. Checked the box as suggested and problem was solved.

I can’t seems to find this option in the new Disqus 2.73. I have one slider that shows code. There isn’t any comment counts to enable….do you have any other advice until Disqus gets back to me?

I have run into the same problem too. Tyler’s solution worked for me. I have version 2.73 of disqus too.

@flgirl search on the page for ‘ Output JavaScript in footer ‘ and check the box next to it.
