Plugin disappeared, but it seems installed.

  • At the moment the plugin “user role editor” does not appear in any list of plugins.
No functionality related to the plugin is active: there is no menu, no nothing.
However if I go to “add new”, look for it, it says it is installed.

I had installed the plugin. I had edited some of the capabilities of the “contributor” role. Everything seemed fine.

Yesterday I needed to create a new user profile that can do anything like an administrator with the exception of deleting users.
So I created a new role and named “super-administrator”, intending to make myself super administrator. In my idea I would then have edited the “administrator” role.

Now the role “administrator” does not appear anymore. I am “super-administrator”.
And, like I am saying above, there is no way to edit roles, create new ones.
The plugin seems not there anymore.

    How do I solve this.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
Later better than never. I resolved the same issue today for other “User Role Editor” user.

The problem is that “User Role Editor” is available for the users with “administrator” role. “User Role Editor” and “Administrator” role were hidden from users with roles other than ‘administrator’ for security reasons.

Remove ‘user-role-editor’ folder to automatically deactivate it. Then assign “administrator” role to one of your users. That login will be capable to work with “User Role Editor” then.

    Regards,
    Vladimir.
