I downloaded and activated this plugin. I even played around with the settings a little bit but I do not actually see the search bar on my site. I cannot provide a link to the site as it is for a client and is not publicly visible yet.

Kind of hard to diagnose without seeing your site. Is your theme calling wp_head like it’s supposed to?

Hi try dragging the SEARCH widget on your “widget” page to a place on the side bar.. should show then.
