• I’d been searching high and low for what I thought was a simple thing — the ability to let a novice user edit a single line of text that appears on a page from the dashboard.

I know Dashboard Notepad was not intended for this use, but it seems it’s the only thing out there that does this, at least easily, and it’s integration with Members made it perfect.

The only thing that would make it even more perfect is multiple notepads or note fields, each with it’s own short codes.

Hopefully Stephanie will consider this for a future release, or role this into a new plugin for this purpose… something like a Dashboard Shortcode Editor.

    Thanks!

At the moment it would be hard to do, simply because the Dashboard widget API doesn’t allow for multiple copies of things the way the public widget API does. I’m hoping it gets rewritten, but it doesn’t seem to be a priority for any of the core developers.

    Oh, that’s too bad.

How about just multiple fields in the single widget? Would that work?
