I recently created this WordPress site for Protect Students and
    Taxpayers: http://www.protectstudentsandtaxpayers.org/

I used the Custom Post Type to build a list of news articles in favor of looking at the issue. I then popped it into the sidebar and I have a nice list! YAY!

I have a question on how the plugin works and if it is possible to do
something I am trying to do.

Each Custom Post Type of type “newslink” has:

    – a source (the name of the newspaper)
    – date (the date the editorial originally ran)
    – title
    – link
    – excerpt

    The Custom Post Type supports:

    – title
    – editor
    – excerpt
    – trackbacks
    – custom-fields
    – comments
    – revisions
    – thumbnail
    – author
    – page-attributes

So, some, but not quite all of what I need. But what I need I think I
can get in the custom fields. Maybe. I dunno. But on to my question:

I would like to be able to auto-generate a page formatted thus:

    <source>
    <“title”>
    <“date”>
    <“editorial-teaser”>
(sorted by date, most recent first)

    And a sidebar auto-generated thus:

    <source>:<“title”>
(sorted by date, most recent first)

I don’t know how to get the link part into the Custom Post Type. Also, I am not sure how to configure it so that it would spit out what I am describing. Would it require a whole lot of clever PHP or is it endemic in the plugin settings and I am just missing how to do it? I’d be happy to keep fiddling with it until it works, as long as I know there’s actually a solution somewhere.

I hope this is an interesting question.

    Thanks!

    Tim Wayne
