[Plugin: Custom Field Taxonomies] Problem with custom field with spaces

  • Let’s say I have a custom field called “Favorite Artist” (note that it isn’t lowercase and has spaces) and I want to register this as a custom field taxonomy.

I enter in “Favorite Artist” for the key, but CFT makes the key lowercase and changes the space to hyphen.

Does CFT work with custom fields that are capitalized and has spaces?

  • No, it currently doesn’t work with custom fields that are capitalized and have spaces.

You can rename the custom fields using the “Rename custom keys” box and use the title field to enter the capitalized and spaced version.

Are there plans to support capitalization + spaces in future versions of CFT?

It’s not a big deal right now, but I can see how it would be a hassle for those of us who use capitalized custom fields in a lot of templates and functions.

Capitalization & spaces don’t work well in URLs.

I could let you use capitalized custom keys, but the urls would still be sanitized. So, if you have “My Field” for example, the url would be

    http://example.com/?my-field=value

That sounds fine with me, scribu.
