How to Search? (6 posts)

I created new post type of content - "client". And there is the new field - "name". When I search by WP search - I do not find the value of the field "name" in my client-posts.

    What should I do?

The plugin is GREAT, but I do need good search...

    Thanks for the feedback!

I think this was one of the bugs fixed on the dev branch... checkout the latest build @ http://wpcctm.com/cctm-dev.zip

(This is the related bug: http://code.google.com/p/wordpress-custom-content-type-manager/issues/detail?id=143)

Search forms can be tricky because there are so many variations. I've used my other plugin to tackle this on several sites:

Version 0.9.4 is coming very soon and it will include a lot of new features.

    Great job from fireproofsocks.

I am using CCTM for 2 of my websites and I just stumbled upon the same problem. I tried using Relevanssi search plugin but like Gray's case when performing search, custom post types where not included on the results page.

It also brings me to another question. I am using CCTM to help people find good hairdressers according to their needs. Now the listing itself is perfect but I need an advanced search panel where people would be able to choose what they would like to take into cosideration.
Any plugin that rings a bell for such purposes ? Or maybe you are already thinking of including one in CCTM in future?

Great work by the way, and keep it up like this.
    WP+CCTM rocks!

Just to be clear I am talking about searching on the User side.

The code in the dev zip file should address this problem: http://wpcctm.com/cctm-dev.zip -- it was reported as issue 143 (http://code.google.com/p/wordpress-custom-content-type-manager/issues/detail?id=143) and the fix will be included in the next release, but currently, you have to grab the dev version and install that.

Search forms are tricky, so there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution. Google makes it look easy, but they've literally put billions of dollars into it. I will include a more advanced search function once I integrate CCTM with the Summarize Posts plugin, but it's probably impossible for it to meet everyone's needs.

Thanks for great info ! Working with taxonomies and custom post types and custom fields at the same time gives you endless possibilities, but it's extremely hard to get a proper search engine done for it.
There is a nice one done in the WP-Property - The search engine included as a variety of shortcodes to use really simplifies it.

Like you wrote just now - can't meet everyone's needs :)
    Keep it up
