    I agree on this – is it possible to display the excerpt on archive pages and hide the content when you click on it or something similar?

    Yes but while the module hides the post content it does not hide your post attachments.
    So if you have attachments that you want to show i.e. a few images you could just call these though your theme after the <?php the_content(); ?> in your templates.
