Support » Plugin: CPT - Speakers » [Plugin: CPT – Speakers] Add category to speakers?

  • CPT – Speakers looks like just the plugin I needed and a nice introduction into the mysterious world of custom post types. Thanks 9Seeds!

Is it possible to add a category to the speaker? I need an option to sort the speakers for different events.

If it’s not built-in the plugin, it’s probably possible to hack it, right? Any suggestions appreciated.

D’oh! I never saw this comment come in. I apologize for the massive delay.

I’m assuming by now you have either solved the issue or moved on to another plugin. Or, hopefully you’ve just hacked this one to do what you needed.

I haven’t really thought of adding categorization to it, but it makes perfect sense and would be a nice bit of example code (which is what this started out as to begin with). I’ll see if it’s something I can whip up and add in. Or, if you’ve already done it, send it us a patch.

Hi John Hawkins. Yes, I’ve figured out the whole taxonomies stuff. Your plugin has been very helpful in keeping custom types managable. 🙂

I’ve added the following to your plugin:

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

Note that I also have a second custom post ‘sessions’; this code registers the taxonomy for both.

That is not ideal for a plugin of course. Does anyone know a good way to let the plugin register an existing taxonomy?

There are still lots of loose ends in custom type posts…
