# [Plugin: Countdown Timer] Changing seconds

 * I’m trying out the Countdown Timer and using it as a widget in the sidebar. I’m
   wanting to know why the time doesn’t actively count down… it remains static until
   the page is reloaded. Under the “Manage”->”Countdown Timer” interface, at the
   bottom, the example _does_ show a changing seconds and minutes.

 * It’s probably an issue with your theme. The program has an action that hooks 
   on to `wp_head` and `wp_footer`. Some themes don’t call these in their file and
   so the code never gets inserted into the page. The administration page uses different
   hooks, and so that’s why you see it working there.
