    Hi all,

Its been a long time that I've worked in this plugin. Please drop in your suggestions so I could try my best to include it in the next update.

I apologize to those who haven't got a fix for their issues mentioned in the support forum.

    Thanks and regards,
    Praveen Rajan

  2. Unless you are somehow adding to the conversation, please don't just post links to other threads like that. It doesn't add value.

Since you've properly tagged this thread, people visiting your plugin page will see it and pop in and make requests if they want to.

    Hi Jan Dembowski,

I was just cleaning up my Plugin Forum so that users wouldn't have to wander around to check if their earlier suggestions in their posts were taken into consideration or not. Do I get the option to delete any thread in my Plugin Forum?

    Thanks,
    Praveen Rajan

  4. I'm pretty sure that you can not delete threads or even close them, but that's a guess on my part.

You can marked them resolved and you can leave a reply referring them to this thread. But just making new posts hew with links pointing to them... that doesn't clean up threads tagged with your plugin.

    Hi Praveen,

Nice plugin! I'm waiting for the HTML5 support. Since you are asking for other enhancement suggestions, following is my wish list:

    - Albums
    - Images support
    - Metadata

Albums: I would like to have in the same page several 'Albums' (thumbnails) and each one will link to a video gallery (similarly implemented than the 'Lazyest Gallery plugin').

Images support: There are several image gallery plugins available and a few video gallery plugins. But no plugin can manage well both media types and furthermore no one can manage albums with those two media types.

Metadata: I would like to display automatically some metadata informations with the thumbnail and title like 'size of the file' and 'duration of the video'.

    Thanks,

    JP

    Metadata!!!

    1. I would like to have a widget which allows users to search all video files. Also a way to tag all videos to make the search better.

    2. In the showcase display could you also add a search box above all files?

This would really be great! I am using WP-filebase for all my pdf files because it is easy to search and it would be great to search videos as well!

Perhaps you could allow for jpg preview thumbnail images. Not sure why its limited to png but when you optimize a MOV for web it automatically give you a jpg you can use. In the past, I just changed the file name to png (eventhough it was jpg) and it would work just fine. But recently, I went to do the same thing and the thumbnail would not render properly (gives me a gray/pink scale thing.) Even if I convert to png proper it was still not working right. I was able to create png thumbnails to my desired sized and load them in with FTP but it means a few more layers of work to getting a vid up. Would be nice to be able to use the plugin thumbnail generator, including jpg.

    For whatever its worth.
    Cheers.

Hiya! I found this plugin today and after play with it a bit, I'M IMPRESSED. But of course, this is the suggestions thread so I must have an idea. So here it is:

Do you think you'd be able to add an option in that would either allow a user to hide a playlist while the video plays on the regular screen (fullscreen I noticed it disappears) or an option to have it play like the 'playlist' shortcode without the playlist. I tried putting playlist height at 0 and instead of no playlist, it filled the whole player blocking the video! (lawl)

Also, am I not looking hard enough or is there no reference to the shortcode in the plugin. I was trying to put it on a page and couldn't figure it out until I saw the screenshot on the plugin page. Just asking.

    Thanks for reading!

Is it possible to allow larger size videos to be uploaded? I have videos of 12MB that I would like to upload and I still can't get the youtube feature to work so was hoping to be able to upload them like normal videos.

    @ Rainakthx

File upload size depends on your PHP settings.

An alternative is to upload it through media library(same issue will be encountered here I guess) and then attach it to your video gallery.

If there are any issues related with Youtube, please open up a new thread. I will be looking into that.

    Thanks,
    Praveen Rajan

    Really nice plugin.
It would be great to have sub-gallery, meaning having a gallery being part of another gallery, but instead of displaying the videos of the child gallery it would display a "folder" icon (or selected image).
That would allow people to navigate, a create some sort of categories.

It would be nice to have an automated scan to add videos that have been uploaded by ftp

    AMAZON S3 INTEGRATION.
If that's a little bit greedy... how about the option for the user to host from an external file then? ;)
Although my server is quite big... it's not quite as big as their servers.

And furthermore, for your users who prefer video hosting sites other than YouTube, it would open up some other options.

Otherwise, your plugin.... rocks. my. world.

It really is a blessing!!! And you are very talented!!!

This option is already available in Gallery Details page with a Scan Folder button. This adds videos FTPd into corresponding video gallery folder.

I've seen the request you have made :) I'm just keeping track of suggestions from users for upcoming versions. I respond to those which I feel invalid or out of scope ;)

    Dear Praveen,

Thanks for the reply. I realise there is a Scan Folder button in the gallery admin, but I was suggestion a fully automated scan that would not require any user input. I would like to upload video directly from my smart phone via ftp and have it displayed on the wordpress site instantly?

Also I have included the ffmpeg path for my server (/usr/bin/ffmpeg) but it still says it's not installed, any suggestions? I am running ubuntu 10.04 LTS

    Thanks

I dont see that to be a value addition to plugin. At what point of time do you expect this to run? There are certain process in the background like thumbnail generation, video details fetching, saving items to database. So if this is done automatically, it will affect these since user is not aware of what is actually happening and he tend to navigate to some other page. Please come up with suggestions on this.

After setting the path correctly in Gallery Settings, where you able to generate any thumbnails even if Overview page shows Not Installed message? Also make sure exec is enabled in your webserver

One little but important feature: The playlist should indicate which video is playing right now. The playing thumbnail could have a diffent color for example.

    Would that be possible?

    Thanks :)

PS. I second barrydock's suggestion. It would be nice if uploade gallery contents were displayed automatically like when pressing "Scan folder" from the admin pages. It could be done by simply checking if anything were added, and if so, the content could be added to the gallery.

    @marlar007

About the playlist option I will have to check into that.

Where do you like to have the auto Scan? Is it the front end or the admin panel?

    Update:
If this is the thing you are expecting, it is not feasible at this point of time. This increases the loading time for pages which is not desirable. Non-technically it seems simple, but it is not. The page needs to be reloaded second time to update the changes made or an AJAX call need to performed for this. These processes slows down front end page transitions.

    @praveen

    Thanks for the update.

I cannot get any thumbnails to generate either. Nor do I know how to check that exec() is enabled - I think it is enabled by default, I have also checked the php.ini file which does not seem to contain anything that might disable exec()??

    @Praveen

Yes, it is that function I am referring to. I don't think there will be any load problems because it is only when the content has been added/deleted the will be any processing. So maybe for the specific user who triggers the updating there will be a short delay, but for subsequent users there is not.

Besides, it should be optional and default to No, so users who don't need it shouldn't be bothered ;-)

    Hi, I concur with takiyahnoble

I also wish to add videos from other sources (in .mp4 or other formats)

it would even be nice to have a page check the list of them and showing in green or red, in case they are no longer accessible.

(this could be done with lib curl fetching the headers only to check HTTP response is 200 OK)

No need to download the video here, just keep it in its source
