admin-ajax.php Overload on High Traffic Site (8 posts)

Just tried the plugin on my high traffic site (200k uniques/2 Million page views a day) and the load more than tripled as a result. Admin_ajax.php file is getting massacred with hits. Any idea if this could be addressed? I host the site on a powerful dedicated server but the load spiked so much it's crippling my box.

    Cheers ;)

    Tranny,

I'll gladly look into this. The way the plugin works will definitely need an overhaul, as I think it currently hits the Ajax a total of 3 times per user... that may be able to be dropped to one.

Unfortunately I have no idea when I'll be able to get to this, hopefully soon of course. I have to finish this Options Framework API first. I'll definitely be looking at this because I have a large client as well.

Thanks man, hope you'll get a chance to look into it. Good plugin, just really overloads resources on high traffic sites right now. Looking forward to an update.

    Tranny,

I'm sorry I've had a lot going on. I have a v3 in the works, and I'm getting rid of the old Thickbox and replacing it with a better jQuery alternative, that's also fit for responsive sites.

In the new version I believe I've drastically decreased the load on servers, espeically since I've taken the AJAX calls from 3 to 1. Less overhead that way.

The new code has literally been written from scratch, and I've scrapped everything from the existing plugin, hence the V3. Not to mention a more simple and less confusing options panel that now includes the WP Visual Editor instead of those plain old text boxes. I still got some kinks to work out between clients but expect by the end of the month, if not the beginning of the next.

Hey Jerry, give that v3 some time to finalize it if you can ;)
