Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 » [Plugin: Contact Form 7] Mail shows “WordPress” as its sender name. How to change?

  • Hi all,

I’m experiencing the following issue with the Contact Form 7 plugin, running on WordPress 2.9.2. The form I’m referring to is located here: http://www.veillance.be/lang/fr/contact/

When the form is filled in, I receive an email in my Inbox with the sender name appearing as follows: “WordPress” <name@domain.com>.This means that when replying to emails, I need to manually delete the “WordPress” bit, which is quite tedious.

The answer appears to be here: http://contactform7.com/faq/#Mail_that_comes_through_the_contact_form_shows_WordPress_as_its_sender_name

However, I’ve followed the instructions and it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t seem to find a response.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Seb

  • Just put any name on the FROM field, followed by <email@address.com>

    i.e.

    FirstName LastName <email@address.com>

    or

    [COMPANY] Notifications <no-reply@address.com>

    That’s it.

Is there any way to get the sender’s actual name in the From field like normal? I have [first_name] and [last_name] in the form and added it to the From field but it didn’t work, still sends as “WordPress” instead of the 2 fields I specified. I checked the site FAQ page, but only saw the same answer above.

    Help?

    Thanks!

It’s possible that one of other plugins or theme is overwriting the From field. Deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme might resolve it.
