I was quite surprised that when selecting ’email’ from the input type in Contact Form 7 that the the type attribute is still set to ‘text’ as opposed to ’email’.
By using input type ’email’, ‘url’ or ‘number’ respectively, on mobile devices the user will be provided with a more appropriate keyboard and also, as I understand it, turn off auto capitalisation. From what I have read these input types are fully backwards compatible and will just operate as text inputs in browsers that don’t support them.
Is this something the author is considering implementing. Would anybody else be able to assist me with modifying the source to cater to this?
Contact Form 7 is very cool already. This improvement would rely make my forms sing when it comes to responsive design.
