  • I have actually posted this question in the general wordpress support area as to start with didn’t think the problem was related to Contact Form 7 but now wonder if it is…

    Contact Form 7 seems to be working properly in that the client receives enquiries via the contact form correctly. The problem they are having is that they are also getting 5 to 10 emails a day that have no subject except [SPAM] marked in the subject field, and say they are from WordPress. The details from the email header are as follows:

    The from reads:
    From: WordPress <>

    The emails seem to be coming from the clients server ie the Return-path says:
    websitename@websitename.co.nz

    There is no content.

    I have the Mail from set up as:
    [your-name] <[your-email]>

    I can’t for the life of me figure out why this is happening. I don’t know how to tell if it is in fact spam or if there is something not right with the settings. I have contact form 7 set up on a couple of other sites and they are working fine – their settings are exactly the same as the client who is having the problem.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?

    I forgot to mention, I am also using the Campaign Monitor addon. I wasn’t sure what to put in the Mail from field here so left it blank. Should I be putting:
    [your-name] <[your-email]>
    in that field as well perhaps?
