[Resolved] [Plugin: Constant Contact for WordPress] Error: "No such file or directory"

  • I’m using this plugin within WordPress on a Linux hosted server, and I get the following error when upgrading to the 2.3.7 version of this plugin:

    Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(D:\TEMP\PHP/sess_37kaptf3gkj7m6k8mqu9n1r8r3, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /home/content/…/wp-content/plugins/constant-contact-api/constant-contact-api.php on line 22

    (I edited part of the path out, because it contains private information.)

    You need to contact your host; it seems you don’t have ability to write to a /tmp/ directory.

    Ask them if there’s any reason session_start() wouldn’t work.

    This was their response: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have reviewed the error that you have getting on your WordPress plugin update. The /tmp directory already exists on your hosting account. It is set above the root directory. It is writable by default. Make sure your path is correct when trying to write to it or try reinstalling the plugin.”

    They did not respond to the session_start() part of the question.

    I’m not sure where that leaves me. Do I need to change something in the plugin settings to point to a different /tmp directory location?

    Also, I note in the error message above, that the path to the sess_37kaptf3gkj7m6k8mqu9n1r8r3 file contains slashes pointing both directions. Seems odd to me. Would that cause a problem?

    I changed how this works in Version 2.3.8. Please let me know if this is fixed.

    I updated to 2.3.8 today. After activating the plugin, WordPress has the same error across the top of each admin interface page, except it says “on line 5” now instead of “on line 22”:

    Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(D:\TEMP\PHP/sess_5nu63pdg1aksq9kghrt4t92ku2, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /home/content/…/wp-content/plugins/constant-contact-api/functions.php on line 5

    Oh, and it’s “functions.php” instead of “contact-api.php”. So I’ll take a wild guess and say you did something right, but apparently it needs to be fixed in another file as well.

    I forgot to update this. This issue was resolved for me a few months ago. Turns out the previous developer swiped a Windows-based php.ini file for use on our site without updating it, but our server is Linux. So the Windows-style paths did not work. I changed them to the Linux equivalents, and then everything worked perfectly.

    Wow, that’s pretty crazy!

    I’m glad this got worked out; thanks for updating the thread.
