  • Completely approved, are you going to make those improvments ?

I’ve made several of these improvements and I think I’ll branch and re-release. The way they organize the database is incredibly backwards and makes it impossible to search. Also if you have thousands of entries in your table, even if you use a “premium theme” that has pagination they didn’t use limit in mysql but instead use array_slice…

I’ll post something here when it’s complete: http://www.nikru.com/portfolio/directory-plugin/

Yes, this plugin was based on Addressbook and the db needs restructured in order to properly support search. Which is exactly the reason this feature has not yet been implemented. This has to be done carefully so as not to break 10-20k installs.

Connections was never designed for more than a couple hundred entries but do to the increasing popularity due to the large array of features not found in other directory plugins these issues are being addressed.

I have to mention I know for fact that there are many users using Connections to manage thousands of entries quite successfully.

I’m interested in seeing your fork. I may roll some of that code into Connections to speed up my own efforts.

I’m highly interested in this plugin, however, proper DB structure (aka searchable etc) is important.

I didn’t want to go about the process of making these improvements to my own install of this (fresh install) if it’s already being worked on. Have you yourself made any progress on this Steven?

    How about you njkrut?

Please feel free to go about making the changes, it could be a little while until I’m done and when I am, search and pagination will only be available as a premium options. It is the sales of the templates and pro modules that fund development of Connections.

But to answer your question, the current unreleased code base has gone thru significant changes, of which is a new db structure. Here’s a post that highlights just one small new feature. Upcoming Release Feature Preview
