Plugin conflict: Faceted Search / Yoast WordPress SEO

  • Hi Andrew,
First off I love the Faceted Search plugin! I was in the middle of setting up a smoothie recipe database for my girlfriend’s WordPress site when I realized that your plugin can accomplish everything we want just by repurposing Categories. Ha!

Anyhow I got a proof-of-concept going but ran into a conflict with Yoast WordPress SEO. If WordPress SEO is activated, Faceted Search will return “No results found” no matter what is searched. I tried disabling options in WordPress SEO that seem relevant but so far the only thing that works is deactivating it.

Anyone run into this? Any ideas?

P.S. As a workaround I might try to create a custom taxonomy and modify Faceted Search to use it per the other thread. I suspect WordPress SEO won’t bother interacting with a custom taxonomy so it might allow the two plugins to coexist.

  • Oh, dear. That’s a rather popular plugin. I hope this gets fixed soon.

I found that if you go into the WordPress SEO Permalinks menu and uncheck: “Redirect ugly URL’s to clean permalinks. (Not recommended in many cases!)” then problem solved : )
