I have tested this with “anyone replies” and with Commenter choose to do so(default checked)” settings on and I have not received a single email for any of my tests.

Is there something else I need to do or something to set up other than installing the plugin?

prince2econd: if you get it working please come back and tell me what you did.

I don’t know if more background information is needed to get a response here…

I have a wordpress 2.7.1, fresh install. I am using “notepad chaos” wordpress theme, but have fixed the nested comments so that they work properly by using the wordpress default theme as an example.

When I install the plugin, I can see the checkbox if I select one of the checkbox options, however I do not get an email reply regardless of which option I select.

My tests for the plug in involve me logging out and submitting a test message with an email different from my wordpress admin email, then replying to this message with yet another guest user and email.

I want this plugin to send notifications to any person that submits a comment. Any ideas on a solution would be helpful. I get admin notifications fine, but none from this plugin.

I can provide more information if neccessary. The site is http://www.costumewardrobe.com/blog/

OK… so tell me why it works on another test install on the same server, same version, with a different theme that I have fixed the nested comment on…

surely there is nothing intrinsically different…?

I have the solution. Short answer: It probably is actually working fine.

If you are testing to your own email and the reply is from the same email it doesn’t send an email.

I have just used a different email to test the reply and it now works.

Most frustrating problem ever. I honestly don’t think it should check this because for testing purposes, this has sucked. I have been doing tests in other ways, but perhaps not necessarily with the plugin on the right settings. I was only able to put my finger on the problem when I got it working on a test blog where I had used a completely different email for the admin and therefore tests were coming from a different email.

If you are testing to your own email and the reply is from the same email it doesn’t send an email.

Well, I guess, it assumes you don’t want notifications to your own comments (assuming you use the same email address. ) Actually that’s useful, except… it would have been nice if the developer had told us this.
