Seemed promising, but couldn't get the plugin to work at all. I kept on getting a function error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function has_post_thumbnail() in/Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/WP_Sandbox/wp-content/plugins/comic-easel/functions/admin-meta.php on line 68

Just to make sure, I set the permissions for that plugin dir to 777 but still no go.

^ WordPress 2.9 and above has the function "has_post_thumbnail" inside of it.

What version of WordPress were you trying it on?

Well as said, the function has_post_thumbnail has been around since WordPress 2.9 -

That code shouldn't even execute unless you're in the wp-admin post editor anyways.

Okay I found out what this is. It's based on the theme you are using, if the theme is registering the add_theme_support in the right place or not, what them were you using?

^ This end result is the theme that was being used had the add_theme_support('post-thumbnails'); being executed at the wrong time. after_theme_setup was too late, so tossing it directly into the functions.php works better.
