  • Can I copy any snippets I’ve created to another WordPress site?
The import/export feature is currently in development. You can however, use the import/export feature of phpMyAdmin to copy the wp_snippets table to another WordPress database.

A tutorial with pretty pictures would be cool to show us noobs how to do this 🙂

Good idea. I’ll start working on it and it will be posted to my blog when it’s done.

    Thanks heaps

    +5 for import/export 😉

Import/export feature added in version 1.3.

Is there a way I can display code in the decscription text area. For example I add the code snippet and then in the description i’d like to show the code i need to use to implement that snippet in my theme file. maybe some sort of tinymce button?

    thanks Pete

    Hi Pete,
Have a look at this Codex page.

    Ahh thanks 🙂

Thanks so much for the import export feature, this plugin is destined to be one of the great plugins (for me anyway). Cheers!

Any chance in getting a batch import/export feature?

whoops… just worked it out 🙂

I haven’t tried it out yet, but thank you for it. 🙂

Does it blow away everything that’s in there (upon import) or does it just add new snippets? If just adds, doesn’t erase everything first, what would trigger a duplicate?

    Thank you.

You’d want it to add to not replace the current functions.php as it may(probably) screw up your theme. You’d need to know what’s in your current functions.php in any case… 🙂

Snippets are added to the database along with the existing snippets.

There is no way to have a duplicate snippet when importing. This is because the only thing that identifies a snippet is its ID. When you export snippets only the name, description and code is stored. On import the next available ID number is assigned to each snippet.
All snippets are inactive on import, regardless of their status on the original site.

You can also learn more about the import/export process by clicking on the ‘Help’ tab on the top-right corner of the ‘Import Snippet’ page.
