Support » Plugin: Co-Authors Plus » [Plugin: Co-Authors Plus] Display Multiple Authors Using Graphene Theme

  • Resolved AlyssaZ16

    I’m a non-programmer trying to use the Co-Authors plugin with my Graphene theme.

    I have successfully installed the plugin, but cannot get the posts to display both authors’ names (only two authors are assigned per post). I tried using the already established forum posts that dealt with this issue to modify the theme, but cannot find the referenced lines of code script (perhaps the updated version of the Graphene Theme has different lines of code?). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    It looks like the Graphene theme will take a bit more modification than usual to get multiple bylines to appear in all of the proper places.

    I’d recommend attending a local WordPress Meetup to see if there’s anyone there willing to help you for free or for a low fee.

    Thanks, Daniel. Do you know of any quick way to just get it to show up with both authors on the front (posting) page? That’s really the only place we care about showing the proper byline.

    Do you mean the homepage or the single post page?

    In either case, it looks like you can edit loop.php and loop-single.php. In particular, you’re looking for this section of code:

    				/* translators: this is for the author byline, such as 'by John Doe' */
    				$author_url = '<a href="' . get_author_posts_url( get_the_author_meta( 'ID' ) ) . '" class="url" rel="author">' . get_the_author_meta( 'display_name' ) . '</a>';
    				printf( __( 'by %s', 'graphene' ), '<span class="fn nickname">' . $author_url . '</span>' );

    You’ll want to replace it with your Co-Authors Plus meta tags.
