Support » Plugin: CKEditor for WordPress » [Plugin: CKEditor For WordPress] CKEditor for WordPress – NOT working / only works for NEW pages.

  • Hi,

I would love to use this plugin.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ckeditor-for-wordpress/

However I am having a problem. When I install and activate the plugin it does not work.

I can see the editor when adding a new PAGE only.

I can not see the editor when editing a pre-existing page.

I can not see the editor when adding a new post.

I can not see the editor when editing a pre-existing post.

Other than opening multiple tabs and copying and pasting code between tabs or just activating the plugin when doing “new pages” I don’t see how this will work for me. I have tested the plugin in IE 7 and Google Chrome (latest version as of 1/26/2011) and I get the same results as noted above. Also I updated my version of WordPress to 3.04. So testing occurred in previous version of WordPress too.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I would like the ability to use full featured word processor type editor.

    Thanks,

    Trish

    Hi,
Do u try do this in WordPress 3.0.5? I cannot reproduce this…
In previos version (3.0.3 and 3.0.4) as i see there were problems with it – probably bug in WordPress, but now everything seems to work fine.

Pls try the new version of WP and report me that all works good for you.

    Greetings

I’m having same problem in wp 3.05. Truthfully, although the plugin says it’s active, what happens is that tiny mce simply goes into html mode & won’t come out. I can’t even edit new pages w/it. Works on my test development environment on the home machine, but not on my client’s Hostgator server. The plug was installed to wordpress/wpcontent/plugins, precisely as directed.

I hate to say it, but all the posts I’ve seen on this topic–& there have been several–have totally gone unanswered. So I’m not too optimistic about getting any assistance. Too bad, too, cuz it looks like a very useful tool.

    Hi,
Do u try to open this page in FireFox with Firebug enabled? Is it show any errors?
When you move site from local to production server, u copy all files or install all to clean WP?
It’s also could be request limit enabled in apache on Hostagator server… U could try to disable all plugins and enable only ckeditor, and then check that it works correctly?
    Greetings

    Hi,
I can’t reproduce this issue. Can you give some more info ? Please write on which server, php version , OS you have those problems.
Have you installed some others plugins ? Maybe there is some conflict

I am having the same exact problem in Firefox and IE9. I am using version WP 3.1.1 and CKEditor 1.0.7. Both are the latest versions. Once saved in CKEditor, the editor will not load the page. I have to then deactivate CKEditor to see the page again.

    Hi,
Could u give more info about server where u have your WP installation?
Do u have mod_pagespeed installed on webserver?

Could u list all your installed modules?

If i think good, after enabled CKEditor plugin again nothing is changed? When this error is occured, page adding works or not?

    Greetings

Thanks for your response and Greetings

I think I have identified an incompatibility between my PHP version and a plugin I am using which is impacting CKEditor.

Under investigation. Will report back shortly.

PHP version is 4.4.9 and the two plugin is WP-Events 2.2.3
Server is shared hosting Apache on Linux. Dont know if it runs pagespeed. PHPinfo has no information so assume not.

    Hi,
@gurpreet_singh we are waiting for more info from you.

Initial testing complete. Will test this a bit more.

Yes indeed. The problem was between PHP version, WP-Events plugin and CKEditor. The three together do not work.

It did take several installs, deactivations, reactivations to get this far.

Thx @gurpreet_singh. We will test this also. When you have more info please write it.
