Support » Plugin: WPFront Scroll Top » Plugin causing Site Health Status Critical Issue report

  • Hello,

I have been running the new Site Health Status check on my websites.

On some of them I have been getting the following Critical Issue:

Background updates are not working as expected, with the following message:

“A plugin has prevented updates by disabling wp_version_check()”

By a processes of elimination, I have concluded this plugin is causing this error message.

I am running version 2.0.1, the most recent version of this plugin.

    Thanks

I see that you have now fixed this critical error I reported here over a week ago.

It would have been nice if you had of at least acknowledged my contribution.

    Hi @kapman,

I wrote the bug here and just after I went on the website of the plugin creator and wrote a message about the bug directly through the contact form.
I think it has been considered and solved so fast for that reason.
Personally, I always report bugs this way for plugins, on the WP support page and directly on the plugin website.
I know it shouldn’t be necessary to send a message via the plugin website, but this way, normally, accelerate a lot the resolving process.

    Hi Max R,

I reported this bug more than a week before your post, and the plugin creator fixed it before your post, so we could assume that the creator started working on the fix because of my post.

So, my point was, it would have been nice if the plugin creator had at least acknowledged my contribution.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

    Hi @kapman,

I agree the plugin creator should have acknowledged your contribution.

What I wanted to say is that I find it more effective to report the bug here on the support page and at the same time contact the creator of the plugin directly through his website.

I repeat, I know it shouldn’t be necessary to do this, but I’ve also noticed that bugs are solved much faster this way.

    Hi Max R,

Thanks. I now understand the excellent point you were making.

I must admit I had never thought of contacting a plugin creator directly through their website, but I will do that in future.

    Thanks for the tip!
