 * I am in desperate need of help for one of my important websites.
 * It’s been a long time (~ 1 year) since I hit the admin panel so I decided to
check back in today. As the title says, I am getting redirected to a white screen
when attempting to access my /wp-admin.php login prompt. It also appeared that
my logo on the top left of the page was missing.
 * I decided to read up and ultimately renamed my wordpress-seo (an old version,
0.4.2) in the plugins folder. By doing this, I was able to get the webpage to
display the logo. The admin panel is still the white screen however.
 * I decided to try and successfully upgrade to WP 3.7.1 which worked. I then attempted
an upgrade to 3.8.1 but it failed with the error: “Upgrade failed! We were unable
to proceed due to a failure in a required procedure necessary to complete your
   upgrade.”
 * I believe this is all related to the plugins and I am not sure how to resolve
   the issue.
 * Can somebody point me in the right direction?

 * Hi tspope,
 * Try renaming your plugin folder to something like plugin-1 and updating.

 * Thanks Fexin. I just renamed the plugins folder tried but was still unable to
   upgrade to 3.8.1 from 3.7.1.
 * I did notice that now with the plugins folder renamed, I get an actual error
at wp-admin page instead of a blank screen…
 * It reads “W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place.
Please re-install plugin or remove /public_html/xxxxxxcarservice/wp-content/advanced-
   cache.php.”
 * Is there any wordpress core files I can edit to work around this? Anything you’d
recommend at this point? I think this may be a pretty difficult fix.

 * I have also tried renaming the advanced-cache.php. Same error.

 * ddi you deactivate the plugin before you renamed the plugin folder?
