# Plugin causes theme editor to break

 * Hi,
 * This plugin is quite good but there’s an issue with it. I can’t use the theme
   editor in my WordPress dashboard when the plugin is active. Whenever I try to
   save my changes an error pop ups saying “Something went wrong. Your change may
   not have been saved. Please try again. There is also a chance that you may need
   to manually fix and upload the file over [http://FTP.&#8221](http://FTP.&#8221);
 * Disabling the plugin Helpful is the only way to resolve the issue.
 * I tested this on multiple sites and the result is the same.
 * Please look into this. Thanks.

 * Yeah, so it appears that editing the stylesheet of a theme works. No issues saving
   it. That is, under the Theme Editor in the Appearance tab of the WordPress dashboard.
 * But editing a php file doesn’t work. For example, anything I add to functions.
   php fails to save. It can be a comment line (//) and it won’t save. The loading
   icon with the spinning circle will keep moving until the error message above 
   appears.
 * No, I host WordPress on my DigitalOcean VPS so I don’t get any emails about errors.
 * I’ve even tried disabling all plugins, including Helpful. And this allows me 
   to save the files with no problem. But just enabling Helpful alone causes the
   error to occur.
 * Can you try editing the stylesheet of a WordPress site and then the functions.
   php file? Does an error occur for you? I’m just wondering if it’s limited to 
   me only.

 * Could you download the current trial version and see if the error still occurs?

 * I had used the hook “plugins_loaded”. Now I exchanged it with the “init” hook.
   Apparently the first hook was too early. But I wasn’t aware of it.
 * You can leave the test version on it. You will still receive all updates in the
   future, at least as soon as your version 4.1.4 changes to 4.1.5.
