    Hi there,

Just installed BulletProof and I think the problem is that it somehow has the wrong path. I am getting the message:

/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs//wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/htaccess/default.htaccess is not writable or does not exist.

Please note the extra slash // between httpdocs and wp-content.

Any tips on how to fix this?

If it’s not that, I am using Plesk through no fault of my own (I hate it), and it always seems to give me problems with permissions, requiring me to make too many things 777 than I am really comfortable with.

Double slashes are ok. They will be interpreted correctly as a single slash. Yikes 777 even though you have dedicated or virtual hosting sounds a bit sketchy. This could be caused by safe mode being on or another issue with your php.ini file. There are so many variations in setup and configurations between all the different web hosts that it is impossible to give you one general all purpose answer. BPS works right out of the box without any issues for most web hosts, but there are a few hosts that require an adjustment here or there to get BPS working without any issues. What will work to correct your problem will be specific to your web host so if you post your web host name here then i can tell you all the possibilities it could be for your particular host. Thanks.
