 * A server error 500 usually means that your server ran out of memory. Could be
that maybe the server is experiencing issues or for some reason your site is
already using a lot of resources and your host has a php memory limit. Are you
able to increase your php memory?

 * I have no idea… All I know is when I inserted a ~ in front of the folder, the
site started working again.. the plugin page mentioned that the current template
version wasn’t tested with my version of WordPress.

 * Delete the wp-content/plugins/buddypress folder. Looks like BP is conflicting
   with your theme.

 * Thanks esmi, but I have been working all along in buddy press – did not have
a WP site or theme prior, used the BP default from the get go. All was fine until
I installed this plug in that is supposed to help modify WP themes into BP usable
themes (was investigating this bcs of the lack of BP themes available). I installed
the plug in and blammo! So the problem is this plug in, not a theme 🙁 If I delete
my bp folder won’t I lose everything I have set up for the new BP site?

 * Try reading the error message and you’ll see where the issue is.

 * It is greek to me. I am not a coder or developer. I am just the Executive Director
of a non-profit that serves victims of child-abduction by providing peer support
after they are located, who is trying to launch this buddy-press site prior to
a major event we are hosting next week. Can somebody please help the victims
of child abduction we serve by helping me me fix this??

 * The same function – bp_dtheme_ajax_querystring() – is being defined the studio
theme (inc/ajax.php:17) and in the buddypress bp-default theme (inc/ajax.php
on line 81). You cannot define the same function twice. Either the studio theme
or BP has to go. If you cannot sort this out yourself, consider [hiring someone](http://jobs.wordpress.net/)
   to do it for you.

 * Believe me, if we had the money I would certainly hire someone. I stopped collecting
a paycheck myself when we lost federal funding and had to lay off all staff,
including our IT guy. We are now all volunteer run.
 * So if there is a conflict btw the theme and bp, why did all work fine for over
a week, until I installed the plug-in Buddy Press Template Pack? (The plug in
is not a template, it is a plug in that helps convert WP templates to BP templates).
The issue started the moment I hit “activate” on the plug-in.
 * Thanks for your help!

 * If you are using the BuddyPress Default theme, or a child of that theme, or the
GenesisConnect plugin, then you do not need BP Template Pack. Delete that plugin.

 * I installed the BP Template Pack because I didn’t want to continue using the
BP Default theme – unless there is a way to change the background color of the
content area (not the overall background). Is there? I have the most basic, piecemeal
grasp of html & css but understand enough to follow directions if you would be
so kind as to give them….

 * You don’t have to use the bp-default theme. But the Template Pack is only for
use if your theme doesn’t have BP support, and it sounds like whatever theme
you’ve chosen already has that support built in.
 * You can change anything you want in your theme, including the background color,
using CSS. I’m afraid I can’t tell you specific instructions because I don’t
know what theme you’re using. I suggest downloading a tool like Firebug [http://getfirebug.com](http://getfirebug.com),
using it to find the name of your background element (maybe body, maybe #container),
and then to use that selector to create a CSS declaration. Google ‘css background’
   for more details.
